LOS ANGELES-- As the March event approaches,WESTEC , the West Coast's definitive manufacturing event, is gearing up to be a showcase for innovation and industry growth. The show-which is being redefined in 2012-is adding several new features and opportunities for exhibitors and attendees to better share their collective vision and ideas for the evolving industry. WESTEC takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, March 27-29.
The event-organized by theSociety of Manufacturing Engineers -will feature nearly 400 manufacturing solution providers, including more than 50 new exhibitors, showcasing the latest in machine tools, technologies and manufacturing advancements that are driving the industry. Manufacturing executives from the aerospace, automotive and energy industries will participate in panel discussions and share strategies and initiatives that are fostering growth and greater results within their organizations.
"We have designed WESTEC 2012 for industry leaders and innovators to identify new ways to support the growth of manufacturing," says Christine Longroy, event manager. "There are a lot of great things happening in manufacturing right now, and we want to work together to prepare for its continued growth and progress."
Unique to this year's event are a series of personal tour packages of leading West Coast manufacturers, including SpaceX, Edelbrock, National Oilwell Varco and Robinson Helicopter Company. Tours will include a technical session led by industry experts, company tour, complimentary lunch and an exclusive show floor experience.
Leading manufacturing executives from the aerospace, automotive and energy industries will participate in a panel discussion and share strategies and initiatives that are driving growth and greater results within their organizations.
The event will also feature a Learning Lounge hosted by industry experts who will help attendees gain new perspectives and manufacturing solutions in a casual, collaborative environment.
New products and technologies covering a myriad of topics, from automation and metalworking to 3-D printing and production, will be showcased in the WESTEC Theater. The Theater will allow exhibitors to demonstrate their product and technology, highlighting how it will improve the manufacturing process. The Emerging Technology Showcase will also explore industry breakthroughs, focusing on nanotechnology, additive manufacturing and micromanufacturing. WESTEC will kick off with a dynamic keynote from Tom Kelley on how companies can Grow Manufacturing Through Innovation. Kelley is a best-selling author and the co-founder of IDEO – named by Fast Company as one of the 50 most innovative companies.
